The Little Rascals Philosophy
Adopting the Early Years Learning Framework as underpinned by values of diversity, inclusivity and sustainability, the Little Rascals team aims to create opportunities for children to reach their full potential, becoming confident, inquisitive and caring members of society.
Our Educators help children to connect with their communities by being active citizens; engaged with people, activities and the environment around them.
Our Educators – all of whom are constantly researching, investigating and learning new strategies to help children reach their potential – believe that every child has the right to participate in a learning environment which promotes mutual respect, shared learning, reflectivity, creativity, imagination, problem solving and community participation. All Little Rascals Educators share a core value that education should always extend past the textbook or classroom and into the real world, founded on the development of interpersonal skills, self-regulation and understanding.
As such, we understand that every child is unique and every child should have the opportunity to contribute to their own learning outcomes. Our centres are inclusive environments that carefully factor the different learning styles of different children; offering opportunities for children to learn, absorb and grow at their own pace. In this regard, children’s learning outcomes are achieved holistically and thus better retained, rather than rushed through. This is assisted by a foundational pillar of peer-based learning to foster greater interpersonal skills and multi-aged community groups, teaching children to be adaptive and considerate in both small and large group dynamics.

We love nothing more than seeing children empowered to be involved in their own educational journeys – as each child will get to experience being the oldest and youngest in an age group, they learn the value of being helped and, in turn, helping others. When we see children feeling comfortable asking questions, relating experiences and expressing their feelings and opinions respectfully… that makes our hearts sing!
All of our learning and interpersonal outcomes are achieved by offering support to children to help identify skills and strategies best suited for them as they strive to be the best they can, implementing the five pillars of the Early Years Learning Framework as a balanced curriculum to reduce the boundaries across all learning areas.
Along with the dedicated team of Educators, Little Rascals founders Liz and Tony Young pride themselves on offering children a dynamic and holistic early childhood experience. Avid advocates of sustainable, healthy lifestyles, Liz And Tony ensure that all Little Rascals Educators help instil a positive attitude towards movement and physical activity in children by fusing it with enjoyable and personally satisfying activities. In this regard, children come to understand the important link between physical and mental health, and how they can nurture their own mental and physical enjoyment to enable them to participate in the activities that they enjoy.
Liz and Tony empower each Little Rascals centre to use a reuse centre, sourcing clean waste from local manufacturers. Additionally, many of the resources used for activities originate from recycled materials. Little Rascals is committed to leaving the earth as bright as the futures that we create for our children.
